WELCOME
This is the official website of the Center for Archaeoastronomy founded at
the University of Maryland. Until recently we also hosted the web pages of
ISAAC, the International
Society for Archaeoastronomy and Astronomy in Culture—these can now be
found here.
From 1977 until 2005 the Center published a peer-reviewed journal, called Archaeoastronomy:
the journal of Astronomy in Culture. This is currently published on
behalf of the Center and ISAAC by the University of Texas Press. For several years, the Center also published the Archaeoastronomy & Ethnoastronomy Newsletter, essays from which are available to read on this website.
The Center continues to publish peer-reviewed books and conference proceedings, most recently with another of its professional partners, Ocarina Books.
