Professor Adil Hassam IREAP, University of Maryland The Equations of Plasma Physics: What to use When and Why. Abstract: Here is a list of some sets of equations that can be used to address plasma physics situations: - Moment Equations - Ideal MHD Equations - Dissipative MHD Equations - Navier-Stokes Equations - Braginskii Equations - Chew-Goldberger-Low Equations - Cold Plasma Equations - Boltzmann-Maxwell Equations - Vlasov-Maxwell Equations - Drift-Kinetic Equations - Gyrokinetic Equations - Kulsrud Equations - Reduced Equations We will address the fundamental basis, validity, and applicability of some of these sets. Examples will be given. |
