An Index of Electrical Currents in the High-Latitude Ionospere

Study of the distributions of electrons found in the ionosphere over the years 2001-2002. Monthly increments of data was collected over the two years of research; this data is known as the Auroral Index.

Benefits: Develope a richer understanding of a beautiful natural phenomenom.

Pitfalls: Strictly computer database research, tedious attention to details

Fibonacci Numbers of Ray Floret Count and Cyead Shoot Apical Meristems Investigation of the occurence of Fibonacci number series (the number being equal to the sum of the last two numbers before it) in ray florets.

Benefits: Oppurtunity to investigate mathematical properties within his biological studies, work hands on with advanced microscopes and dissection tools

Pitfalls: Required to understand several new, complicated mathematical theories, expected to perform delicate dissections of the studied plants to obtain the apical meristem

Spent over 75 hours volunteering at the Shock Trauma division at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore City. She restocker operating rooms, made beds, and assisted nurses in their particular duties

Benefits: Upclose observation of surgeries, changed intended career path to emergency surgery.

Pitfalls: Long, tedious hours working with injured people, small room for error.
