A note on the recommended
textbook. I have assigned Mathematics
with Applications,
by Margaret L. Lial, Thomas W. Hungerford, and John Holcomb (Addison-Wesley).
I am still using the 9th
edition although the 10th
edition has just been published. If you choose to buy the
text, I have no strict preference for either edition. You
may also choose to buy used (older editions) at discounts, or
loan them from a library. Any college level mathematics textbook
will do .... as long as they match the contents (see table of
contents using the links to the editions above). The purpose of
the text is to give you an additional perspective/explanation of
the concepts, and additional questions for you to practice your
skills with. You can email me if you have lingering doubts.
