Academic Activities:

Iraqi Terrorism Lecture: For my academic activities, I attended a lecture given by Criminology Professor David Foster. The lecture was given on Monday, Ocotber 30th in Symons Hall. The subject of the lecture was Professor Foster's research on terrorism in Dibya, Iraq. The topics he covered included the number of attacks in the past years, the number of fatalities resulting from the attacks, the weapons and methods used (roadside bombs, assasination, shooting at convoys), the targets of most attacks (religious authorities, governemnt members, police force members) and the correlation between events (such as elections, Saddam's capture and the Sunni compromise).

The lecture was very interesting. Many students from the Criminology class showed up, the result was that the room was full of students who had to stand on tiptoe to see the powerpoint screen.

Recreational/Cultural Activities:

First Look Fair: I attended the first look fair on both days it was held. On the first day I was unable to sign up for any clubs, due to my tight class schedule, but I made sure to pass through McKeldin mall so that I could glimpse the clubs there. On the second day I signed up for a variety of clubs. Due to time constraints I was unable to attend all of them. The club I am most active in is the Boxing Club, since training is on Mondays and Wednesdays. The workouts are tough, but I enjoy them.

All-Nighter: I attended the annual All Nighter at the Stamp Student Union. I arrived at the Union at around 9 PM and left at about 2 AM in the morning. Duirng the time I was there, I observed the demonstration done by the Black belt Club, which was especially entertaining towards the end when one person jumped over four or five crouching people and broke a board in half with one kick. I then observed the ballroom dancing lessons, but did not feel like joining in.

Most of my time, however, was spent with the Anime Club in their annual Anime-All Nighter. During that time we watched anime, held raffles every half hour for prizes. I did not win any raffles, but had a good time nervetheless.

Diversity Horizons:

For my diversity activity, I attended an Episcopal chruch service in the chruch of St. Francis in my home neighborhood. I'm not Episcopalean, nor am I religious. I attended the service with my mom and some of her friends.

Citizenship:

Blood Donation: I donated blood on Wednesday September 6th, at LaPlata Hall. This was my first time donating blood, so I was nervous. Suprisingly I didn't find the procedure that unpleasant, and after a while my nerves disappeared. During that time, I talked to the workers there and some of the other students who were also there donating blood. Afterwards we were given Red Cross T-shirts and (for some reason) red "Kiss the Donor" cooking aprons.

I enjoyed the experience, and paln to donate again in the future.
