Engineering Fields
On September 4th, I attended my first Maryland Ultimate Frisbee practice. I was nervous for the first practice, but everyone was very friendly and accepting. Although I played Ultimate in high school, the team here at Maryland is very different. The beginning of the season was less competitive than my high school team, but as the newcomers learned more about how to play the team became more intense. With the team, Helpful Corn, we travel to different schools for weekend tournaments; these are often tiring and always of fun. I am glad that I decided to continue playing Ultimate here at Maryland.

Citizenship
September 13, 2007
In early September I registered to vote. In late August I submitted the mail registration form, which was sent to my house. From there my parents sent me the written application. I was then able to fill out the forms and send them back to Boston. The process was a hassle because of the need to send the forms back and forth from Massachusetts and Maryland. Although it was troublesome to do, I am happy that I did it, and am now able to vote in the upcoming elections.

Math Tutor Center
On November, 5th I went to the math tutor center. Doing this helped to reassure me that I understood the concepts being covered in class before my test. At the tutor center, the tutor showed me easier ways to compute the answer to the problems. I believe this was helpful because I often make small errors when using extra steps that are unnecessary, causing me to get the wrong answer.

North American Indian Cello Project
On November 6, 2007 I went to see the North American Indian Cello Project. This was an interesting experience. The artist presented a unique blend of Native American music with a European sound through the use of the cello. It was fascinating to hear the song where she mixed the National Anthem with what seemed to be a more traditional Native American song. The blending of the two songs and cultures provided an interesting representation of the identity which Native Americans can take as representatives of both cultures. I also enjoyed the end of her third song, which was more calming.
