Fibonacci Numbers of Ray Floret And Lycad Shoot Apical Meristem
Mr. Clark is a an ELT student and Biology Major. Over the last semester, Mr. Clark worked with Apical Meristems. He diagnosed and extrapolated each meristem from each flower with the assistance of the famed Fibonacci sequence. Mr. Clark found that research experience was the the main benefit of his project. He explained that disecting the meristem from the plants was the most difficult part of his project because it was so time consuming. His future plans include more in depth research on the subject.
Aurora Borealis And An Index of Electrical Currents in the High-Lattitude Ionsphere
Mr. Jenkins is an ELT student. Throughout the semester, Mr. Jenkins has been working on the phenomenon known as the Aurora Borealis. He studied the effect in great detail while investigating the presence of electrical currents in the illuminated sky in the Ionsphere. Mr. Jenkins found that the project was beneficial to him in that he learned a great deal about something he is very passionate in. He also gained a lot of experience. He found that the most difficult part of his research was the possibility of the data being inaccurate in certain circumstances.
St. Joesph's Medical Center: Emergency Dept. Nurse Assistant
Ms. Pashai is an ELT student and a Biology Major. Over the summer, Ms. Pashai worked in the Emergency Room of St. Joesph's Medical Center. She shadowed nurses and assisted faculty and patients during her time at the hospital. Ms. Pashai found that the experience was beneficial because she is pursuing a career in medicine. The job also allowed her to fine tune her communication skills. While on the job, Ms. Pashai felt that at times she may have been in the doctor's way, potentially becoming an obstacle. She also explained the interacting with patients may at time require a lot of patience.
