Title of Project: A Day in the Life of a Vascular Surgeon

Description of Project: - shadowed Dr. Silverio Cabellon Jr. (a vascular surgeon) of Washington Hospital Center in DC - Mainly observed procedures such as arteriograms, amputations, bypass surgery, angioplasty... - Interacted with the patients one on one - goal was to familarize himself in the best possible manner how a vascular surgeon goes about his day in the hospital. - activities done --> observing and shadowing - goal --> familiarize self with hospital environment and doctor procedures - results --> learned a great deal how the microcosm is run

What were the main benefits you received from doing the project?: - Learned how doctors interact with nurses and assistants and patients. realized how well coordinated the team is to efficiently carry out a procedure. Learned how it is also very emotional in the sense that if a patient dies, he has built a connection with them and loses that person. Quite different from TV shows where each death is overly dramatic. - intellectual --> nothing to advance his booksmarts, but learned how doctors run the show and how they interact w/ nurses and patients. - personal growth --> added more fuel to his fire to become a doctor

What were the main pitfalls or obstacles during the development and/or undertaking of the project?: - Mistaken as son several times, which was actually a blessing in disguise since the patients spoke with him very openly nothing particulary hurt him.

Title of Project: Analysis of Wye House Artifacts

Description of Project: activities done -->Wash, analyze, categorize, and label artifacts of the arcaheological sites AIA worked on in Annapolis goal of project --> reconstruct daily life via analysis of artifacts

What were the main benefits you received from doing the project?: - learned how arcaheologists work extremely hard to document and categorize past life using various methods of categorization . - intellectual --> various techniques on how to categorize different artifacts (relative and absolute dating) - personal growth --> inspiration to continue geology study

What were the main pitfalls or obstacles during the development and/or undertaking of the project?: -found it tricky at first to keep up with various procedures being carried out simaltaneously to determine age and location, but found his rhythm

Title of Project: Eaton Aerospace Engineering Internship

Description of Project: - editing, updating, creating pro engineering drawings and process for manufacture - extensive work w/ pro enginner designs - analyzed load and leakage testing data for specific customer requests efficiently - activities done --> see above - goal of project --> to familiarize self with how mechanical engineers operate and how the technical aspect is transformed into a business - results --> effectively carried out activities completed and so satisfied with the trip, going again this summer

What were the main benefits you received from doing the project?: - good work environment, system of checking, direct contact with manufacture - intellectual --> hands on experience with technical aspects, customer interaction, as well as manufactor interaction - Personal growth --> loves the job, wants to continue, not so much business, but techincal, building, creating, designing, etc.

What were the main pitfalls or obstacles during the development and/or undertaking of the project?: -nothing really, loved the job!
