My research and teaching interest is in the areas of knowledge organization, information seeking and sensemaking, human computer interaction, and interactive information retrieval.

The central theme of my research focuses on:

1. how users (especially knowledge workers) seek, analyze, and synthesize information to create, disseminate, and share knowledge in individual and collaborative settings;

2. how to design and evaluate information systems and knowledge organization schemes to better support tasks such as business intelligence, learning, and problem solving.
