Apollo Transcript Viewer
The Apollo Transcript Viewer is designed to support synchronized
examination of Apollo mission archives. The user interface, shown
below, permits simultaneous display of one audio channel, one video
program, two photograph sequences, and two transcripts and/or flight
plans. Three transcripts and two flight plans are included in the
present version of the system. The system is described briefly after
the screen shot below.
The system presently offers the following capabilities for the Apollo
15 mission:
- One audio/video sequence (lunar surface EVA television)
- Choice of three scanned transcripts
- Space-to-Ground Radio (GOSS1 TEC)
- Command Module On-board Tape (DSE)
- Lunar Module On-board Tape (DSEA)
- Three timelines
- Video availability
- DSE availability
- DSEA availability
- Choice of two corrected and annotated transcripts
- Apollo Lunar Surface Journal (Copyright Eric M. Jones)
- Apollo Flight Journal (Copyright W. David Woods and Frank O'Brien)
- Choice of two flight plan sequences
- Command/Service Module
- Lunar Module
- Two photograph sequences
- Commander lunar surface photography
- Lunar Module Pilot lunar surface photography
- One traverse map
- Four replay control features
- Mission Elapsed Time (MET) display
- Timeline slider (one-hour increments)
- Selectable timelines on each flight plan page
- Pause function
This prototype system was developed to explore synchronization of
multiple transcripts with audio and video replay. It is freely
available for research use under the GNU Public License. The data
files are large, and should only be downloaded over a fast
connection.
The present release of the code (1.0) would benefit from a good
scrubbing, and there are probably a few undiscovered bugs. Bug
reports are welcome, and bug fixes would be particularly welcome!
