English 101 is the core writing and rhetoric course for the University of Maryland. This course focuses on learning how to write well and construct strong arguments. The skills that you learn in this course will be useful for writing in your other courses, your career, and your life in general. Beyond writing, a strong understanding of rhetoric will allow you to carefully evaluate the arguments of others while crafting stronger arguments of your own.
