Title of Project: Potomac Valley Search and Rescue

Decscription of Project: Stephanie joined the Potomac valley search and rescue group and preformed search and rescue after acquiring skills needed to go on a search. She was successful in finding people.

What were the main benefits you received from doing the project?: The main benefits Stephanie acquired were life skills, first aid survival skills. She also benefited from the practicum by meeting a lot of people.

What were the main pitfalls or obstacles during the development and/or undertaking of the project?: The hardest parts for Stephanie were learning the knots required and getting transportation to the search sites.

Title of Project: Research Projects

Decscription of Project: For his first research project, Evan did library research on how flower petals relate to the Fibonocci sequence. For his second project, Evan looked at the apical cell of a cycad to see if it was classified correctly.

What were the main benefits you received from doing the project?: The main benefit Evan got from the project was a lot of research experience.

What were the main pitfalls or obstacles during the development and/or undertaking of the project?: The main obstacle for Evan was trying to develop a method for getting the meristem.

Title of Project: Shadowing at the Hey Clinic for Scoliosis & Spine Surgery

Decscription of Project: Ashley got to see what being a doctor was like through spending time with physician associates and watching surgeries.

What were the main benefits you received from doing the project?: Through this experience, Ashley’s medical aspirations were confirmed and this experience opened the door for surgery.

What were the main pitfalls or obstacles during the development and/or undertaking of the project?: The main obstacles for Ashley were that she wasn’t there long enough and the experience was very specific to one domain.
