Over the years, the elaborateness of the Mid Autumn celebration has faded as the young people have grown disinterested in the holiday. A celebration which was once drawn out in festivity, filling the streets with color and laughter has become a more reserved, simple, quiet celebration between a few friends or a family spending a little time together and looking to the moon as a way for loved ones to “see” each other while hundreds of miles apart. This article interviews a few people of different ages ranging from their twenties to fifties about their experiences during the Mid-Autumn festival, how their celebration has changed, and its significance to them. Despite all the different experiences and meanings, the true reason of family reunion and unity is upheld. The main significance and what made this celebration special to every person was their sharing in the celebration with others, family and friends, near and far, and simply having a good time.
