Entitled “Moon Cake,” this article focuses on the history and traditions behind moon cakes. Broken up into four easy to read sections, this article also provides a couple sections for links to other sources for recipes and more information on the Mid-Autumn celebration. Bet Wong starts off with the historical section where she provides a very brief historical summary describing that moon cakes date back to the time the Chinese were trying to overthrow Mongolian rule. Wong continues her page with the “Traditions” section; there she describes the meaning of the moon cake and how this “Chinese delicacy” has evolved over the years. In this“Traditions” section of the article, a link is also provided to another article from Asian Week written on moon cakes. This link goes more in depth on the ingredients, customs, and prices of moon cake. The next couple of sections provide information on the cake molds used and recipes for making moon cake. There are also quite a few links to other pages which include recipes for different types of moon cakes, ranging from the popular nut cake to the chocolate. In the final two sections, web links and books are listed for further study. One interesting aspect of this page is that it also provides several links on the side to similar celebrations in other cultures.
