ENAE 632 Technical Paper and Presentation - Spring 2002
Paper requirements:
- Must be on a topic related to helicopter or tilt-rotor aerodynamics.
- Try not to make the topic too broad - keep in mind the length limits.
- Topic title and outline must be submitted to the instructor for approval no later than Feb. 28.
- Papers on subject material closely related to the student's own research/work activity is strongly discouraged.
- The paper is limited in length to that of an AHS/AIAA Technical Note. This is usually one-quarter the length of a full journal paper. Typically, this means no more than 9 units, where 1 unit equals one page of double spaced text or 1 full-size figure.
- The content of the paper is to be at the level of a person knowledgeable in the field of helicopter technology, but not necessarily a specialist in aerodynamics.
- Papers must be concise and precise.
- Focus on the physics of your topic problem.
- Any more than a few key equations (if required) is discouraged.
- A good paper will have few (if any) spelling and gramatical errors.
- A good balance of text and figures is recommended.
Presentation requirements:
- Each presentation is limited to no more than 15 minutes. 10 minutes are allocated for the oral presentation, with 5 minutes for questions and answers.
- Use no more than 7 viewgraphs. A title slide does not count toward the limit.
- The presentation should convey the essential elements of the work given in the written paper.
- The presentation should end with a clear conclusions slide.
- Graphs and plots etc. should be clear and legible.
- Presentations will be graded by students and the instructor.
