This web-page was created as an assignment for PHY 726, taught by Prof. Luis Orozco at University of Maryland in the Spring Semester, 2009. This work was done under the supervision of Prof. Bei-Lok Hu.

Summary:

We present a brief review of the basic concepts and criteria for squeezing and entanglement in relation to quantum optics. As an application of the developed methodology we study the properties of single and two-mode squeezing of a BEC in a harmonic trap and in an optical lattice. We discuss spatial entanglement, two-mode entanglement and entanglement generation via Four-wave mixing in a BEC.
