Title of Project: "In Front and Behind the Scenes at the Delaware Natural History Museum

Decscription of Project: Katherine worked in the exhibitions and research department of the museum. She helped setting up the exhibitions and answering question to visitors. For the research department she helped preparing future specimens for the collection and recording data about the specimens.

What were the main benefits you received from doing the project?: Katherine learned what goes on behind a working museum. For example, besides setting up exhibitions, for many museums it is necessary to maintain collections for research.She also acquired skills like collection organization, exhibit mainenance, event planning and visitor interaction.

What were the main pitfalls or obstacles during the development and/or undertaking of the project?: She found it hard to balance providing information scientific knowledge to visitors and keeping an engaging environment. It was sometimes difficult to keep the visitors' attentions.

Title of Project: Learning to Teach Science to Elementary and Middle SChool aged Students

Decscription of Project: Ilana volunteered in the Hillel Community Day School in ROchester, NY. She taught 4th graders about the ecosystem and photosynthesis and 5th graders about the water cycle, climate and global warmimg. Besides teaching, she assigned and graded homework and assignments, and graded quizzes. She also helped to prepare the school play

What were the main benefits you received from doing the project?: Working with children, Ilana learned patience and keeping a slow pace. She liked her job a lot and considers becoming a teacher.

What were the main pitfalls or obstacles during the development and/or undertaking of the project?: It was hard sometimes to keep a slow pace, and in general finding a way to teach the children was difficult.

Title of Project: Home Healthcare: The Future of Recuperative Care

Decscription of Project: Bei decided to work for Dynamic Visions Home Health Services, a home care agency. While she shadowed the nurses, she also assisted them with treating the patients and ensuring that they are comfortable.

What were the main benefits you received from doing the project?: This experience helped Bei to better understand what she wants to do after college; She is now thinking about working in public health.

What were the main pitfalls or obstacles during the development and/or undertaking of the project?: Bei had some troubels with the nurses, because she was not used to constantly being told what to do.
