Incorporating the four sources distributed during section, the week’s lecture, and the assigned readings, explain in 300 words how different groups (African-Americans, both formerly free and ex-slave; women and men of the North and the South; immigrants; Native Americans) imagined what “America” would be in the time period immediately following the Civil War. Your answer should draw on an understanding of American history BEFORE 1865 as well as an understanding of what conditions were like immediately following the war.
