HAPPY & SAFE HOLIDAYS!!
12/17
Final exam from last year is HERE. Solution to last hw posted above.
12/13
1) Please submit your HW9 to the TA. The best way is to bring it to the Physics Department Mailroom on the first floor. If it is open you can give it to the person in charge there (Al). If it is closed you can put it in an envelope and drop it in the chute on the door of the mailroom
2) The final examination is on Friday Dec 19 from 1:30-3:30pm in the same room as the classroom. (There was an error in the Syllabus: It is NOT Tuesday, but Friday, Dec 19. The Course Content and Schedule has the date and day correct.) You are allowed to bring a non-programmable calculator and a new formula sheet, as before. (Together with your earlier two for the midterms make three total.)
12/11
Midterm 2 Score distribution is HERE.
12/6
HW9, Due Dec. 16 (Please bring your homework to the TA's mailbox (#43) in the physics mailroom on the first floor or his office R4223 ) Solutions will be posted by Dec 17, and the graded HW will be returned to you in the final exam on Dec 19.
12/5
Solution for hw 8 posted.

Solution for Hw2 and Hw3 from KK posted. Hw4 posted.

Hints for Hw2:
1(b): When the link points to right, the length of the rubber increase j; if points to left, the length decrease j.(If you define "right" as positive direction) The total length L is a function of number of links and how many of them points to right. So when Nr=N, Nl=0, the total length is Nj. When Nr=N-1, L=Nr*j - j = (N-2)j
1(c): The "thermodynamics identity" in this problem simply means the first law of thermodynamics, i.e. it is asking the correspondence to the 1st law of thermodynamics in the given condition.
9/28
Due Date for Homework 2 is postponed till Thursday Oct 2
