Hello! My name is Hope Miers and I am currently a sophomore at the University of Maryland. I am also a College Park Scholar in the Science and Global Change Program. A big reason I joined this program is the aspect of community as well as to learn more about the planet we call our home. Being a chemistry major, my studies are not directly focused on the environment, but I love learning more about it. I chose chemistry as my major because I believe it encompasses two subjects I enjoy, science and mathematics. Further, I hope to one day have a career in the dental field and I know that extensive knowledge of the sciences, particularly chemistry and biology, will be very important to achieve this. This quest for knowledge extends into what I want to get out of my university life. I want to leave the University of Maryland having learned things I had never thought possible before.
