Franklin Morse was born on 16 April 1827 in Roxbury, Massachusetts.1,2 He was the son of Harford Morse and Lucy Gay.

Franklin Morse appeared on the census of 12 August 1850 at Roxbury, Massachusetts, in the household of his mother.3 He was a coppersmith according to the August 1850 census.3

The census of 9 July 1860 at Township No. 1, Placer County, California, shows a Franklin Morse, miner, born Massachusetts, age 33; this could possibly be the son of Harford Morse and Lucy Gay, as Franklin Morse does not appear in Massachusetts in the 1860 census.4

Franklin Morse died in 1879.5 He was buried on 5 August 1879 in Forest Hills Cemetery, Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts.5,6
