Marjorie Dorothy Thurber was born on 24 February 1907 in Cody's Bluff, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Charles Jefferson Thurber and Winifred Wilhelma Whaley.

Marjorie Dorothy Thurber married Stephen John Whitkus, son of Jacob Waitkus and Tekle Drungilaite, in 1939. Marjorie Dorothy Thurber and Stephen John Whitkus were divorced in 1949.

Marjorie Dorothy Thurber died on 14 July 1966 in Texas at age 59. She was cremated and her ashes buried in the family plot at Crestview Cemetery, Wichita Falls, Texas.
