David Oakley was born on 25 March 1720 in the Borough Town of Westchester, New York.1,2 He was the son of Miles Oakley and Sarah Tippetts.1

David Oakley married Sarah Hunt, daughter of Moses Hunt and Mary Close, about 1741.1,2,3 According to Everett Hunt's web site, A. W. Savary (New England Historical and Genealogical Register, April 1912) says that David Oakley married eitrher Eunice Hunt or Phebe Hunt, and William Oakley married the other.4 In 1756 he was appointed assessor in Mile Square, Yonkers, New York.2 David Oakley was a judge and seems to have been a leading legal authority.2,1

David Oakley died on 25 November 1796 in Mile Square, Yonkers, Westchester County, New York, at age 76.1,2,5 He was buried in St. Paul's Cemetery, Eastchester, Westchester County, New York.2,5
