William Henry DeVoe was also known as "Henery." He was born on 17 March 1868.2,3,4,5 He was the son of Isaac DeVoe and Cordelia A. Oakley.1

William Henry DeVoe appeared on the census of 20 June 1870 at Mount Pleasant Township, Westchester County, New York, in the household of his father.6

William Henry DeVoe appeared on the census of 21 June 1880 at North Tarrytown, Mount Pleasant Township, Westchester County, New York, in the household of his father; he is shown as "at home" and "attended school within the census year."7

William Henry DeVoe married Jennie Hopkin on 10 September 1894.2 Frank Kenneth DeVoe called him his "talking uncle," and described him as "the sheet metal man."8,9

Frank Kenneth DeVoe said that his Uncle Bill (William Henry DeVoe), his Uncle Fred, and his father tended to argue together: "Those three together were something, because they could each one find a different side to take."10 His Uncle Bill was the most obstinate of all.10

William Henry DeVoe lived in July 1945 in Irvington, New Jersey.11 He lived in November 1955 in California.12

William Henry DeVoe died on 31 January 1956 at age 87.4 His daughter, Hazel, told Howard DeVoe in 1960 that he had died in Los Angeles.13
