Edward DeVoe was born on 31 August 1866 in Tarrytown, Westchester County, New York.2,3,4,5,6 He was the son of Isaac DeVoe and Cordelia A. Oakley.1
Edward DeVoe appeared on the census of 20 June 1870 at Mount Pleasant Township, Westchester County, New York, in the household of his father.7
Edward DeVoe appeared on the census of 21 June 1880 at North Tarrytown, Mount Pleasant Township, Westchester County, New York, in the household of his father; he is shown as "at home" and "attended school within the census year."8
Edward DeVoe married Harriet Losee on 19 June 1888.9
Edward DeVoe appeared on the census of 27 April 1910 at Maple Avenue, Greenburgh Township, Westchester County, New York, where his home was shown as rented.10 He was a house carpenter working on his own account, according to the 1910 census.10 Frank Kenneth DeVoe called him one of his "fishing uncles," and described him as a stair builder craftsman.11,12 He lived in White Plains, Westchester County, New York, from about 1915 until his death.5
