This is a great way for companies to weed out or differentiate between applicants or even just between employees. A certification such as this one is the way to go to get yourself on the right track, whether your company provides this training for you, or you have to go and do it yourself. I just found out that there aren't even any requirements for a consulting company to provide six sigma certification. You can form your own company and develop your own strategies and materials in order to train and certify others. Your specific company as well as any other company certifying, determines their own boundaries and requirements that they feel are important to that program and these guidelines are what are used when certifying for that particular business or company. The training is tailored to their specific needs. This can be good, because you have a lot of specific knowledge, but it also may be harder for you to use it or apply it universally.
