Shadowing Nurses at the National Institute of Health

Morgane observed nurses in a ward where patients came to get blood transfusions, oncology, and organ transplants. She had the opportunity to observe spinal taps, vitals being taken, and chemotherapy.

Because of this opportunity, Morgane has decided that she wants to stay in the health field. She also learned a lot about clinical trials because of her internship at the hospital.

The biggest obstacle for Morgane was getting all of her papers signed. she said that she had to go to the hospital and wait outside the office for four hours before her site supervisor would sign it.

Mate Selection in Satin Bowerbirds

Arunima watched videos of birds to distinguish the prominent nature of their mating behaviors.

Arunima found that the behaviors of the birds to be ambiguous, so it was hard to differentiate them. She also found it difficult to discern the difference between the adult female bowerbird and the juvenile male bird.

Cycad Apical Meristem

The cycad plant is believed to be a gymnosperm. However, Spencer did research to prove that it actually comes from an ancient seed fern plant.

Spencer said that he really enjoyed this opportunity because he was able to follow the project all the way through. He also said that he enjoyed the opportunity to have hands on research, which gave him the ability to learn how to use the electron microscope.
