From: sbb@panix.com (Steve Baumgarten) Subject: Expo tournament results Date: 13 Sep 1993 14:44:29 -0400 Here are the results of the Pinball Expo Tournament; I had to leave before the A Division 3/4 match ended, so I don't know who in that match came in third and who came in fourth. Otherwise, I believe the standings are accurate. One possible exception: Bowen just posted results for the manufacturers tournament that are different than the ones I copied off of the official scoring board. But I might have mis-copied something -- does anyone know for sure how that came out? (Also, there were a lot of no-shows in the manufacturers division -- Larry DeMar never made it to the Expo, and Pat Lawlor didn't return for the finals on Sunday.) One overall comment: I really dislike the way the Expo tournament is run. You basically have no idea what's going on, who's playing for what, or when. PAPA 3 had clear announcements, and there was some sense of excitement as tournament play continued; at the Expo, you wouldn't even know the A division finals were in progress unless you happened to stumble upon them. Anyway, here are the scores: Open [top 16 qualifiers, divided into top/bottom 8 for A/B divisions]: Leonard Moscaritolo 1,406,330,890 John Ross 1,196,889,920 Kensi Ishii 1,137,495,400 Dave Hegge 1,030,629,690 Jim Roberts 1,018,193,000 Rick Miller 937,782,810 Yoshihiro Fujisawa 842,096,420 Andre Delaporte 782,519,470 Dan Wilson 739,185,710 Jason Werdick 731,597,440 George Sigwald 656,661,800 Glenn Wilson 662,292,740 Fred Richardson 596,639,200 Dean St. Antoine 570,481,610 Marion Richards 519,959,430 Rick Stetta 516,398,340 A Division Finals: #1 Kensi Ishii #2 Dave Hegge #[3|4] Leonard Moscaritolo #[3|4] Yoshihiro Fujisawa B Division Finals: #1 Glenn Wilson #2 Jason Werdick #3 Dean St. Antoine #4 Rick Stetta Manufacturers: Jim Shird 1,174,934,340 Lyman Sheats 948,942,250 Nasaga Horiguchi 471,573,080 Roger Sharpe 436,985,370 Dennis Novacek 364,157,590 Pat Lawlor 302,655,410 Stephan Kohnke 220,823,380 Joseph Gottlieb 191,269,960 Manufacturers Division Finals: #1 Roger Sharpe #2 Nasaga Horiguchi #[3|4] Stephan Kohnke #[3|4] Jim Shird Women: Jeri Locke 560,841,120 Julia Slayton 381,537,360 Barb Chablewski 295,138,190 Ann Mull 260,755,260 Women's Finals: #1 Jeri Locke #2 Barb Chablewski #3 Julia Slayton #4 Ann Mull Youth: Mitch Kulek 318,355,560 Kevin Kulek 217,302,000 Tots: David Kaminkow 25,302,000 It's worth noting that young David Kaminkow's score was better than at least one of my own; on the other hand, my dad is a lawyer, and his runs Data East, so I suspect he has more opportunity to practice than I do. On the other hand, I have the advantage of being able to see the playfield without standing on a chair... :-)
