What got me into reading about vision in the deep sea was my interest in how aquatic animals can survive in the dark sea without any source of light from above. I was interested in finding out how the eyes of marine animals evolved to adapt to their surroundings. I was also interested in finding out the key characteristics of the eyes in deep-sea animals. In order to find out about deep sea vision, I focused on the journal review 'Vision in the deep sea' by Eric J. Warrant and N. Adam Locket. I was surprised that vision is one of the most important senses for marine animals. Deep sea vision is an important topic because there is so much diversity in the designs of eyes in deep sea animals. There are a lot of adaptations that have occurred to maximize the sight of the fishes. However, more research is needed to be done in this area to clearly understand the evolution of the eyes.
