Trip Summary


Day 1 (Wednesday, July 28):

  • Left Columbia, MD.
  • Drove to North Adams, MA, and set up camp at Historic Valley Campground.

Day 2 (Thursday, July 29):

  • Broke camp.
  • Visited Natural Bridge State Park in North Adams, MA.
  • Drove to Texas Falls State Park near Woodstock, VT.
  • Drove to Waterbury, VT, and set up camp at Little River State Campground.

Day 3 (Friday, July 30):

  • Visited Camel's Hump State Park

Day 4 (Saturday, July 31):

  • Broke camp.
  • Drove to the Mt. Washington area of New Hampshire
  • Visited Diana's Baths near North Conway, NH.
  • Drove to Rumford, ME, and set up camp at Stony Brook Recreational Campground.

Day 5 (Sunday, August 1):

  • Visited Screw Auger Falls and Mother Walker Falls in Grafton Notch State Park.
  • Attempted the Table Rock trail in Grafton Notch State Park.

Day 6 (Monday, August 2):

  • Broke camp.
  • Drove to Bar Harbor, ME and set up camp at Bar Harbor Campground.

Day 7 (Tuesday, August 3):

  • Explored Acadia National Park.

Day 8 (Wednesday, August 4):

  • Broke camp
  • Walked the Wonderland trail and visited the Bass Harbor Lighthouse.
  • Drove to Camden, ME, and set up camp at Camden Hills State Park.

Day 9 (Thursday, August 5):

  • Drove to the summit of Mt. Battie in Camden Hills State Park.
  • Visited the Rockland Breakwater Lighthouse in Rockland, ME.
  • Explored the town of Camden, ME.
  • Sailed aboard the schooner Appledore.

Day 10 (Friday, August 6):

  • Broke camp.
  • Visited the Portland Head Light and Spring Point Ledge Light south of Portland, ME.
  • Visited the Cape Neddick Light in York Beach, ME.
  • Drove to Boston, MA and checked in to the Howard Johnson motel near Fenway Park.

Day 11 (Saturday, August 7):

  • Rode the T metro system into downtown Boston.
  • Took a walking tour of the historical sites.
  • Walked the length of the Freedom Trail.

Day 12 (Sunday, August 8):

  • Checked out of the motel.
  • Drove home to Columbia, MD.
