Academic

I attended a Pre-Health Symposium on October 17th in the Grand Ballroom. I was able to meet with professionals in my intended field of study who were really helpful and understanding of my questions and concerns. It was really refreshing to talk to people who could relate to my situation and give me encouragement. I am more comfortable in my decision to become a surgeon now that I have more information on what it takes to break into the medical field.

Recreational-Cultural-Self Improvement

I attended the All-Nighter at the Stamp Student Union on September 28th , where there were different activities going on all night, including performances and games. I watched the a cappella groups perform and was able to get a lot of free stuff, including a very valued Superbad tee shirt. Outside the Union, the step team and dance groups performed. It was a lot of fun and I got to see a lot of talented people do things I wish I could do.

Diversity Horizons

I attended the North American Indian Cello Project at the Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center on November 6th. The project allows Native musicians to collaborate and record their music. More than perform, these Native Americans, from the Mohawk and Algonquin tribe travel the country spreading their contemporary influences and spread the word and tradition of their ancestors.

Citizenship

I registered to vote outside the dining hall with the help of the Student Government Association during their voter registration drive in September. I've been taught that voting and being part of the democratic process and I have a honest sense of respect for those people who do make a conscientious effort to make a difference in their government. I fully plan on voting in the upcoming elections now that I am able.
