Major: General Biology
Bei Achu, a sophomore ELT student, presented her project, Home Health Care: The Future of Recuperative Care .
The focus of her project was to shadow registered nurses on home visits. She went to homes of patients, of a wide variety
of ages and conditions. While initially restricted to limited patient interaction, Bei eventually was able to perform
simple procedures on patients. To her surprise, Bei found at-home visits to be more enjoyable than the field of prenatal
medicine, which she had previously been exposed to. Bei believes that she very well may pursue a career in recuperative
care, due both to its more personal aspect, and its proven results as a faster method of recovery.

Major: Microbiology
Tinsley Stokes, a sophomore ELT student, presented her project, Using More From the Neck Up: Improving the Organic
Chemistry Lab Manual. Tinsley explored her fascination with lab testing, and her enjoyment of Organic Chemistry I
lab, by testing and making improvements to the Chem lab manual. A self-proclaimed "test student," she ran the
experiments within the lab multiple times, looking for points that could be improved. Although she enjoyed her work, Tinsley
was not pleased with the quality of some chemicals, which produced incorrect results due to their age.

Name: Evan Clark
Contact: edc603@umd.edu
Major: Biology
Evan Clark, a sophomore ELT student, presented his project, Investigating Research Project: Fibonacci Numbers of Ray
Floret Count and Cycad Shoot Apical Meristems Research in Plants . The focus of his project was to test the
reasonability of two research projects; first off, comparing Fibonacci numbers to petal numbers, secondly, to decide if a cycad
was classified correctly. The most challenging aspect of the project was developing a method for uncovering the
meristem. Overall, Evan said that his project was enjoyable and a great experience.
