About Tara

Formed in 1984, Tara has been entertaining audiences all over the Baltimore area with its energetic drinking songs, traditional Irish instrumentals, and heart-wrenching ballads. The ever-evolving group blends traditional and modern instruments for a musical blend that appeals to young and old, purist and progressive.

Though Tara took a back seat to its members' subsequent band, Bad Neighbors, it maintained its annual appearance on St. Patrick's Day at The Holiday House on Harford Road. Initially a trio, the band has grown to eight members to incorporate modern electric guitars, bass, and drums as well as more traditional acoustic guitars, mandolin, fiddle, flute, and bodhrán. More members has led to more gigs, and audiences now have three opportunities to get in the St. Patrick's Day spirit with Tara during March.
