Reporting Scores, Adding Players

For now, please send all score reports (winner, loser, and scores if you can remember) and requests to be added to the ladder (name and email address) to . Hopefully this process will be automated soon.

Rules

Challenges

Any player may challenge any other player on the ladder. If the person being challenged is ranked four or more spots above the challenger, they have the right to refuse the challenge. Challenges should be made by email and have a proposed date and time for the match. After the date and time is agreed upon, it is the challenger's responsibility to reserve a court for the agreed upon time. If the challenged person does not respond with two days, email me at .

Responding to a challenge

When a player is challenged, they must agree to play a match within one week, or else they will be considered to have forfeited the match. Exceptions to this rule are:

  1. They have a match already scheduled for within one week. A player does not have to play more than one match per week.
  2. They are out of town. In this case, they must schedule the match for when they return. In order to keep the rankings in the ladder current, if they are to be out of town for more than four months, they will be considered to have forfeited any challenges made during that time.
  3. They are ranked four or more spots above the challenger.

Rankings

If a lower-ranked or unranked player beats a higher-ranked player, they are moved to one spot above the higher-ranked player. All players in between are shifted down one spot in the rankings.

Forfeits

A forfeited match counts as a loss. If a player does not respond to a challenge, they forfeit the match. If a player does not show up to a challenge within 15 minutes of the scheduled time, they forfeit the match. However, if a player knows they will be late or will have to cancel, they should attempt to contact the other player to reschedule, and both should try to be accommodating.

Matches

Unless otherwise agreed upon, a match is a best-of-3 series of games to 15 points (win by 2). The loser of the previous match serves first in the next match.

Reporting scores

Unless otherwise agreed upon, the winner will submit the score via the ladder website. A copy of the results will be emailed to the players. After a 24 hour period in which the reported score can be contested by the players, the rankings will reflect the result.
