Grandma Kozen's Pound Cake
Ingredients
3 cups sugar
1 cup butter
5 eggs
3 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup buttermilk
1 teaspoon vanilla
Procedure
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
Cream 3 cups sugar, 1 cup butter together.
Add 5 eggs 1 at a time.
Add 3 cups flour a little at a time.
Add 1/2 teaspoon baking soda and 1/2 teaspoon salt.
Add 1 cup buttermilk.
Add 1 teaspoon vanilla.
Grease the pan with butter and add flour liberally.
Bake for 1 hour. If the cake still isn't done, bake for another 5-10 minutes.
Let cool for 15 minutes upside down on rack before you try to take it out of the pan or the cake will fall apart.
You may add frosting if you wish; I prefer to add a little powdered sugar to the top instead.
